  • Thousands of homes in Cuba were damaged as Hurricane Rafael passed over the island, reported the administration of Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel on Friday. Agriculture also suffered significant losses. According to a preliminary assessment by Cuban Civil Defense, over 400 residential buildings were devastated by strong winds in the capital, Havana. Significant material damage is also reported in other regions of the island.
  • Due to air pollution, the international airport in Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, canceled many scheduled flights on Friday, reported the daily "Oslobodjenje." "Polluted air has isolated Sarajevo; many flights have been canceled, and numerous planes have been rerouted," the Bosnian press reported. The daily added, "Sarajevo is currently the fourth most polluted city in the world and the first in Europe." Ahead of Bosnia and Herzegovina's capital are only Lahore, Delhi, and Beijing.
  • Bolivia's Constitutional Tribunal ruled that former head of state Evo Morales will never be able to run for presidential elections again due to term limits, local media reported on Friday. Morales's supporters have demonstrated en masse and blocking roads for three weeks.
  • At the airport in Durban, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa and the current Zulu king, Misuzulu kaZwelithini, unveiled a 39-foot monument of Shaka, the creator of the Zulu kingdom's 19th-century power. The previous monument depicted him in what was considered an insufficiently warrior-like pose.
  • Democratic governors vow to protect their states from Donald Trump and his policies. As reported by NBC News, an ever-growing list of governors from Democratic states, including some potential candidates for the 2028 elections, is already planning legislative sessions, legal actions, and other measures to fight Trump.
