Drone attack ignites chaos at Russian aviation base
On the night between Monday and Tuesday, explosions were heard in the sky over Engels in the Saratov region of Russia. A fuel depot that had been burning for several days was shelled once again.
Around three in the morning, witnesses in the city heard several explosions. Regional Governor Roman Busargin reported that the drone attack caused damage to an industrial enterprise in Engels.
"As a result of the UAV attack, there was damage at an industrial enterprise in Engels. Emergency and operational services are working in extended mode," he reported.
This is where the Russian strategic aviation base is located, which has been previously attacked multiple times by Ukrainians.
Rescue services are operating at the site. Earlier, witnesses reported plumes of smoke rising.
Due to the attack, airports in Kazan, Kaluga, Saratov, and Tambov introduced temporary restrictions on arriving and departing flights.
