U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Canada must spend 61 billion dollars to join the American "Golden Dome" missile defense system.

Trump also suggested that if Canada decides to become the 51st state of the United States, the protection would be free. This information was shared on the Truth Social platform.

Expensive project

The "Golden Dome" project is expected to cost a total of 175 billion dollars. The U.S. Congress is currently seeking 25 billion dollars to begin the work.

However, according to the White House, the full implementation of the system could require up to 542 billion dollars over 20 years, which is significantly more than initially anticipated.

Canada is considering the proposal to join the project, which could have a major impact on its budget. However, cooperation with the U.S. within the framework of the "Golden Dome" could strengthen the country's security. Decisions on this matter will be discussed during future talks between the two countries.
