Drone attacks on Moscow halt refinery operations, cause tanker backlog

An enormous line of tankers waiting for loading has formed near the Moscow refinery. The facility was attacked by drones at the beginning of September, resulting in a massive explosion.

The refinery in Moscow was targeted on the night of September 1. This attack caused a massive explosion, disrupting the refinery's operations, according to local channels on Telegram, a huge traffic jam of tankers waiting for loading reportedly formed in Moscow during the night of September 10 to 11.

The Russians did not report any damage to the facility or production delays caused by the strike. However, online photos suggest that the refinery has not yet been restored to its pre-attack state.

Drone attack on Moscow

Moscow was also the target of a drone attack during the night from Monday to Tuesday. Following the strike, airports including Vnukovo, Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo, and Zhukovsky were closed. Debris from a downed drone fell onto the runway at Zhukovsky Airport.

Drones also struck two skyscrapers in the city of Ramenskoye near Moscow. According to Russian authorities, one person reportedly lost their life as a result of the attack.

Ukraine continues its attacks on other targets located on Russian territory. According to reports from Axios, the White House has decided to lift restrictions on the use of ATACMS missiles for attacks on Russian territory. Secretary of State Antony Blinken reportedly announced this decision in Kyiv on Wednesday.
