France's secret dialogues with Russia on Ukraine conflict
Sergei Lavrov, the Russian Foreign Minister, claims that France proposed a dialogue with Russia about the war in Ukraine without involving Kyiv. They reportedly approached Moscow multiple times.
Many reports from Russian media or government representatives are elements of propaganda. These reports are part of the informational war conducted by the Russian Federation.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated that France repeatedly approached Russia through closed channels, proposing to initiate a dialogue on the Russo-Ukrainian war without Ukraine's involvement. According to "Ukrainian Truth," Russia was ready to listen to Paris's proposals, even though France simultaneously supported sending peacekeeping forces to Ukraine.
Lavrov: France's ambiguous stance
Lavrov said that despite its dialogue proposals, France is simultaneously training Ukrainian soldiers on its territory and supports sending a European contingent to Ukraine. Such an "ambiguous stance," according to Lavrov, undermines the credibility of French initiatives.
"Several times, through closed channels, our French colleagues made appeals: 'Let's help, let's initiate a dialogue on the Ukrainian issue.' By the way, without Ukraine, breaking the principle constantly repeated by the West, 'nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine,'" he stated.
Lavrov threatens
"Decision-making centers directly in Kyiv could be targets for Russian strikes, depending on the threats," stated the Russian Foreign Minister. He also argued that "Moscow never attacks civilian targets."
"We choose targets for destruction on Ukrainian territory exclusively based on threats toward the Russian Federation. These might be military objects, defense industry enterprises, or decision-making centers in Kyiv, but striking civilian targets 'is the method of the Nazis who settled in Kyiv with Western support,'" he asserted, even though it is evident daily how Moscow destroys entire residential areas, hospitals, and schools in Ukraine.
