Iran accused of arming Russia with ballistic missiles amidst war

Ukraine is concerned about reports that Iran has delivered short-range ballistic missiles to Russia. "Iran must completely and definitively stop providing weapons to Russia in order to prove with actions, not words, the sincerity of the statements of its political leadership about non-involvement in feeding the Russia`s deadly war machine," the statement read.

The "Wall Street Journal," citing sources among American and European officials, reported that Iran had delivered short-range ballistic missiles to Russia. According to Reuters, these could be Fath-360 systems.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine expresses deep concern about the reports in the international media on the possible transfer of ballistic missiles by Iran to the Russian Federation," the statement read.

"We once again call on the leadership of the Islamic Republic of Iran to refrain from delivering any types of weapons and military equipment to Russia, which according to the UN Charter and the norms of international law is an aggressor state," it stressed.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine recalls that Russia uses Iranian Shahed kamikaze drones in Ukraine. Diplomats stated that deepening military-technical cooperation between Russia and Iran poses a serious threat to the security of not only Ukraine but the entire world.

"We call on the international community to increase pressure on Tehran and Moscow to protect international peace and security. Iran must completely and definitively stop providing weapons to Russia in order to prove with actions, not words, the sincerity of the statements of its political leadership about non-involvement in feeding the Russia`s deadly war machine," it was emphasized.

"We warn the official Tehran that if the fact of Iran's transfer of ballistic missiles to the Russian Federation is confirmed, it will have devastating consequences for Ukrainian-Iranian bilateral relations," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs pointed out.
