Israel offers to arm Ukraine with captured Russian weapons
Israel has proposed to Ukraine the transfer of Russian weapons captured in Lebanon by the Israel Defense Forces. The Ukrainian Embassy in Tel Aviv confirmed this information, emphasizing the importance of cooperation in the face of common threats.
During a meeting, Israel's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sharen Haskel, presented the proposal to the Ukrainian Ambassador, Yevhen Korniychuk. The proposal involved transferring Russian weapons captured by the Israel Defense Forces in Lebanon.
The Ukrainian Embassy in Tel Aviv confirmed this information, noting that this initiative is important in acknowledging the shared threats facing both countries.
Korniychuk expressed gratitude for the proposal, emphasizing that effective counteraction to threats from Iran and Russia is in the mutual interest of Ukraine and Israel. He believes that military cooperation between the two countries is crucial given the growing threat from Iran, which supports the terrorist group Hezbollah.
The Israel Defense Forces have conducted operations in Lebanon in recent months against Hezbollah, the Iran-supported Shiite terrorist group.
Weapons for Ukraine
The United States has decided to provide Ukraine with hundreds of missiles for the Patriot and NASAMS systems. In addition, Italy plans to transfer a second SAMP/T system battery to Ukraine in response to its air defense challenges.
Being more mobile and easier to operate than the Patriot, this system could significantly strengthen Ukraine's defense. Italy and France have already supplied Ukraine with the first battery of this system.
Israel, which possesses 32 Patriot launchers, is considering transferring them to another country that could support Ukraine. While there is no confirmation of such a transaction, it remains a possible solution.
