Japanese company Icon announced that it had not manufactured the electronic devices that exploded on Wednesday in Lebanon, killing militants from the terrorist organization Hezbollah, for ten years. On that day, 20 people died, and over 450 were injured.

IC-V82 is a portable radio that was produced and exported, including to the Middle East, from 2004 until October 2014. Production of this model was halted about ten years ago, and since then, our company has not shipped it, Icom stated in a press release, responding to reports from "The New York Times" and Israeli media about this particular model.

Production of the components necessary for the device to function was also stopped, and no holographic seal was identified to distinguish counterfeits, making it impossible to confirm if our company shipped the product, the company informed.

According to them, Icom products intended for foreign markets are sold exclusively through authorized intermediaries and distributors.

All of our radios are manufactured at the same factory, and we do not manufacture them overseasd, they assured.

On Wednesday, 20 people died, and over 450 were injured in explosions of electronic devices used by Hezbollah militants in Lebanon, reported the country's Ministry of Health. A day earlier, similar explosions involving pagers occurred. The Israeli intelligence is suspected of installing explosive charges.

Explosion during funeral

According to the Middle East Institute Charles Lister, thousands of phones, laptops, and other electronic devices probably exploded. He posted a video on the X platform showing explosions during the funeral of Hezbollah members who died similarly.
