The leader of North Korea, Kim Jong Un, tested a newly developed sniper rifle while visiting special operations units. According to North Korean state media, Kim emphasized that intensive military training is crucial for strengthening "the practical ability to guarantee victory."

During the inspection, which took place on Friday, Kim Jong Un oversaw shooting exercises with automatic and sniper rifles. After personally testing the new weapon, he expressed "great satisfaction over the performance and power of the sniper rifle developed in our own way." Photos published by media in Pyongyang show Kim looking through the rifle's scope.

Kim's visit to the special operations unit coincided with the decision from the Constitutional Court in South Korea, which upheld the impeachment of President Yoon Suk Yeol. Information about Yoon's removal was conveyed by KCNA, citing foreign media.

Support for Russia

The AFP agency, cited by the Polish Press Agency, notes that according to South Korean intelligence, thousands of soldiers from North Korea's special units have been sent to Russia to support Moscow in the war with Ukraine. Estimates from South Korean intelligence indicate that over 4,000 North Korean soldiers have been killed or wounded on the front. Previous estimates reported 3,000 casualties, nearly a quarter of the 11,000 soldiers sent to Russia by Kim Jong Un's regime.

Meanwhile, former US President Donald Trump, who has met with Kim three times, declared that he remains in contact with him and plans to "do something at some point."
