Moscow talks loom: US delegation arrives for crucial ceasefire discussions

- Russia is ready to discuss with the American side the outcomes of the US and Ukraine negotiations in Jeddah, with potential contacts between Moscow and Washington as early as March 13, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Thursday. The American delegation has already arrived in the Russian capital.

Before 5 AM Eastern Time, a plane landed in Moscow with Steven Wilkoff, special advisor to President Donald Trump on Middle East affairs, on board.

Meanwhile, Russian diplomatic spokeswoman Maria Zakharova confirmed that talks with the Americans will occur. "Russia is ready to discuss with the American side the results of the US and Ukraine negotiations in Jeddah; contacts between Moscow and Washington are possible as early as March 13," she indicated.

"We will certainly inform you of their results, depending on the details we have," she added.

Earlier, Dmitry Peskov, spokesman for Vladimir Putin, commented on the matter but did not want to speculate. "We need to receive this information first. We have also contacts scheduled with the Americans in the next few days, in the course of which we expect to receive full information," he emphasized.

US-Ukraine talks

Donald Trump stated on Wednesday that "a group of US representatives is heading to Moscow right now." "We hope to achieve a ceasefire," Trump said in the Oval Office, adding that "now everything depends on Russia."

In response to the American president's statement, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said, "We do not rule out contacts with US representatives within the next few days," she emphasized.

The White House also reported on Wednesday that Mike Waltz, special security advisor, had a phone conversation with his Russian counterpart.
