Musk demands Scholz resignation after Magdeburg attack
Elon Musk, the richest man in the world and an associate of Donald Trump, called on Friday for German Chancellor Olaf Scholz to resign. He made these comments in response to the attack at the Christmas market in Magdeburg.
"Scholz should resign immediately," wrote Musk on the platform X, which he owns. He referred to the terrorist attack in Magdeburg, where a car driven by a Saudi Arabian driver plowed into the crowd at the Christmas market.
The suspect had been living in Germany for years and is a doctor. Authorities in the state of Saxony-Anhalt reported that at least two people were killed and 80 were injured.
"My thoughts are with the victims and their families. We stand with them and the residents of Magdeburg," read the post from the German Chancellor on the platform X.
Donald Trump's right-hand man
Musk, who has emerged in recent months as one of the most influential figures in Donald Trump's circle, also shared several posts criticizing Germany's migration policy.
He posted this soon after expressing support for the far-right party Alternative for Germany (AfD), claiming that "only AfD can save Germany."
According to "The New York Times," Musk has become "America’s most powerful private citizen." The billionaire is involved with the president-elect's team on matters concerning the transfer of power in Washington, the composition of the new administration, methods of disciplining federal officials, and plans to abolish the Department of Education, as noted by "NYT." The richest man in the world is regularly seen in Donald Trump's close circle.
