According to Bloomberg's sources, if this occurs, the military will most likely be transferred in groups with troop rotation over time, rather than in a single deployment.
Bloomberg reports that several allies are expected to address North Korea's cooperation with Russia this week at the G-20 summit in Brazil, including German Chancellor Olaf Scholz during a meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping.
German officials say Scholz will pressure the Chinese leader to use his influence in Russia and North Korea to prevent the war from escalating further.
Powerful weapons for Russia
North Korea is supplying Russia with long-range artillery systems, which are being sent to the Kursk region, wrote the British newspaper "Financial Times" on Saturday, citing information from Ukrainian intelligence.
This includes about 50 self-propelled M1989 howitzers of 170 mm caliber and 20 modernized multiple launch rocket systems based on the Soviet BM-27 "Uragan" design, which can fire both standard and guided rockets.
Ukrainian intelligence confirmed the presence of this equipment when photos of North Korean howitzers reportedly heading to Russia circulated on social media in recent days.
"North Korea has already played a key role in supplying millions of rounds of artillery ammunition for the Russian military in 2023," noted the "FT." In return, Moscow has provided Pyongyang with, among other things, military technologies for the development of North Korean missile programs, claims a high-ranking Ukrainian official quoted by the newspaper.
