Poland activates defenses amid Russian attacks on Ukraine
"Attention: Due to the attack by the Russian Federation, targeting locations including those in western Ukraine, Polish and allied aviation operations have commenced in our airspace," informed the Operational Command of the Armed Forces.
Throughout Ukraine, just before 1:00 AM ET, air raid sirens blared as the Russians launched strategic bombers and MiG-31 fighters.
Due to Russia's attack on Ukraine, Polish and allied aviation operations have begun in our airspace.
"In accordance with the applicable procedures, the Operational Commander of the Armed Forces activated all available forces and resources at his disposal. Standby fighter pairs were scrambled, and ground air defense and radar reconnaissance systems reached the highest state of readiness," reported the Operational Command of the Armed Forces.
"The actions taken aim to ensure safety in areas bordering threatened regions. The Operational Command of the Armed Forces is monitoring the current situation, and the subordinate forces and resources remain fully ready for immediate response," added the communiqué.
