Putin clashes with BBC at BRICS summit over Ukraine question

Vladimir Putin hosted leaders from 36 countries, including China and Turkey, in Kazan for three days. In his speeches, he criticized the West for using "perverse methods" to maintain global dominance, accusing it of hindering the development of emerging economies and manipulating financial markets. His words were met with approval from summit participants.
However, for the aforementioned West, the defining moment might be the question the BBC journalist posed to Putin at the very end, which clearly enraged him.
How does this align with BRICS principles?
At the end of the press conference concluding the BRICS summit in Kazan, Steve Rosenberg had the opportunity to ask a question. As he noted on platform X, it was the "first opportunity to ask Vladimir Putin a question since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine."

The journalist asks, Putin responds
Upon hearing these words, Vladimir Putin reacted sharply, accusing the West of ignoring Russian concerns about NATO's eastward expansion.

The event also featured UN Secretary-General António Guterres, who called for a "just peace" in Ukraine in accordance with the UN Charter and international law, which stirred criticism.
Putin accused the West of implementing illegal unilateral sanctions and using perverse methods that lead to new conflicts and exacerbate old disputes.
