Putin warns of lasting impact as sanctions reshape Russian trade
Before his phone conversation with Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin addressed Russian entrepreneurs, warning them not to expect a full restoration of trade freedom and capital flow, even if sanctions against Russia are eased.
Many of the reports provided by Russian media and government representatives are likely not true. Such reports may be part of an information war by the Russian Federation.
Vladimir Putin stated that 28,595 sanctions have been imposed against Russian companies and individuals.
Sanctions are not a temporary, selective measure but a mechanism of systemic, strategic pressure on our country. Regardless of circumstances and international order, our competitors will always strive to restrain Russia and weaken its economic and technological potential, said Putin during the congress of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs. His words were quoted by Russian media on Tuesday.
"The train has left the station." Putin talks about the return of Western companies
The Russian leader also noted that some Western companies want to return to the Russian market. In this regard, as communicated, the Russian government has been instructed to develop a procedure enabling the return of foreign enterprises with a guarantee of fair business conduct.
However, for those Western companies whose places have already been taken by Russian entrepreneurs, "the train has left the station," added Putin.
