The Ukrainian military service reported the penalty imposed on Raytheon (RTX). The American company was penalized for 750 violations of export regulations, and the fines totaled $200 million.
This information was confirmed by an official statement from the US Department of State, emphasizing full cooperation from RTX. According to Ukrainian sources, most of the violations attributed to the American conglomerate stem from the actions of Rockwell Collins, which Raytheon acquired.
The charges concern, among other things, the "unauthorized export" of defense articles, including those classified under secrecy clauses. Half of the imposed penalty may be suspended if Raytheon uses these funds to improve internal procedures and prevent similar incidents in the future.
What does Raytheon produce?
The Raytheon conglomerate is one of the pillars of the American defense industry, responsible for developing and producing critical weapons systems. Raytheon produces, among other things, the MIM-104 Patriot anti-aircraft systems and anti-ballistic and hypersonic weapons such as the Stunner missiles and the Exoatmospheric Kill Vehicle (EKV).
Raytheon also produces BGM-109 Tomahawk cruise missiles and FGM-148 Javelin anti-tank missiles.
Various types of Raytheon products also hold significant importance, including equipment that is part of crucial American aircraft. This includes radars for various versions of the F/A-18 Hornet aircraft, the APG-63/APG-70 radars for the F-15, and the AN/APQ-181 radar used in the stealthy B-2 Spirit strategic bomber.
