Analysts from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) indicate that the operation of the Ukrainian Defense Forces in the Kursk region has exerted operational pressure on the Kremlin, and Russia will likely transfer reserve units from Pokrovsk to the Kursk region.
Russian sources, including social media users, reported that at least one Russian 15th Motorized Rifle Brigade company has been transferred from Pokrovsk to the Kursk region.
It reads that the Russian military command may have transferred reserve units aiming to strengthen the priority of the Russian offensive operation to protect against the Ukrainian operation in the Kursk region.
Offensive towards Kursk
The offensive operation towards Kursk is ongoing. Ukrainian troops have advanced about one mile over the past day, General Oleksandr Syrsky, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, informed President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Friday.
Syrsky stated, "The offensive operation continues in the Kursk direction. During the day, our troops advanced up to two kilometers, a total of 5 square kilometers of territory were taken under control."
At the same time, he noted that fighting of varying intensity is taking place along almost the entire front line. The most challenging situation remains in the direction of Pokrovsk.
Syrsky added, "The most difficult situation remains in the Pokrovsk sector. The enemy is trying to break through the defenses of our troops, but as of this morning all attacks have been repelled, the enemy has not succeeded."
