Many pieces of information provided by Russian media or government representatives are elements of propaganda. Such reports are part of the information war conducted by the Russian Federation.
Aleksey Chepa, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma's International Affairs Committee, announced a change in tactics in response to Ukrainian missile attacks. "Of course, we will change our tactics (...). We will be forced to conduct more attacks, not only on military targets but also on infrastructure facilities, which will significantly complicate life in Kyiv," Chepa said in an interview with the Lenta portal.
Chepa emphasized that the Russian army is prepared for such attacks. "First of all, we will shoot them down (missiles - ed.). Of course, there is a certain percentage that, if the attacks continue, will reach a specific target. We will fight this (...) We know all these missiles, we have the means to combat them, and we will strike them," he stated.
Chepa added that commanders conducting operations within the framework of the "special military operation" (the propagandistic term for the war in Ukraine used by the Russians - ed.) should expand the list of targets in airstrikes. "We will also make every political effort to stop these attacks deep into Russian territory," he assured.
Ukrainian missile attacks
On Wednesday, for the first time, Ukrainian armed forces fired British cruise missiles toward military targets in Russia, according to a report by Bloomberg. As Bloomberg notes, the attacks using Storm Shadow missiles were approved in response to Russia sending North Korean troops to the war against Ukraine. According to a source, the British government considered this move an escalation of the conflict.
Meanwhile, on Monday, the BBC, citing the Russian Ministry of Defense, reported that Ukraine fired long-range missiles supplied by the USA toward Russia. The attack was said to have occurred in the Bryansk region. This strike came shortly after Washington signaled that Ukraine had permission to launch ATACMS toward Russia.
According to the statement, Russia allegedly shot down five missiles and damaged one. As a result of the destruction, fragments reportedly caused a fire at a military facility in the region.
