Russian drone assault on Kyiv leaves 3 dead, including child
In another night attack on Ukraine, Russia deployed 147 drones. According to Ukraine's air forces, 97 of these drones were successfully shot down. Unfortunately, debris from the drones fell onto houses and streets, causing death and destruction. That night in Kyiv, three people died, including a five-year-old child, and 10 people were injured.
The Russian drones targeted six districts of Kyiv during the night. In these parts of the city, debris from the downed drones also fell. Photos on social media show the extent of destruction caused by the falling drone fragments.
"As of now, we know that three people have died. Among the deceased are a father and his little five-year-old daughter. Another 10 people were injured, with the youngest injured being only 11 months old. We extend our condolences to the families and friends of the victims and wish the injured a speedy recovery," reads the statement from the Kyiv authorities, published on Telegram.
As Reuters reminds us, the United States is advocating for a peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia. It hopes for an agreement on a partial ceasefire that would halt attacks on infrastructure facilities, particularly those related to energy.
On Sunday and Monday, additional rounds of American-Ukrainian and American-Russian negotiations on this issue will take place in Saudi Arabia.
Meanwhile, despite ongoing peace talks, Russia continues to carry out massive attacks on civilian targets in Ukraine, attacking not only energy infrastructure facilities but also residential neighborhoods.
