Russian forces reclaim Kursk but face crime allegations

Russians are slowly returning to the Kursk region, part of which was previously occupied by Ukrainian forces. Not everyone in Russia has a reason to be happy about this development. Reports suggest that Putin's soldiers are committing crimes. Ukrainian politician Anton Herashchenko has shared a recording that is alleged to prove these accusations.

The Ukrainians are retreating from the Kursk region under pressure from the Russians. The military has struggled with attacks from Russian drones and artillery. Vladimir Putin has made regaining control of this territory one of his main goals. For Moscow, the fact that Ukrainians managed to hold on to parts of its territory for so long is a setback. Unfortunately, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have lost many soldiers in the Kursk region. The operation, which began in August last year, also exhausted Kyiv's forces on other fronts, contributing to recent Russian advances.

Russians return to the Kursk region

Not all residents of the area being reclaimed by the Kremlin have reasons to rejoice. Anton Herashchenko, a Ukrainian politician and former deputy minister of internal affairs, reports on thefts, rapes, and murders allegedly committed by Russians in these reclaimed territories.

He also shared a video showing Russian looters entering damaged buildings and taking a keen interest in the property. A chicken was even seen wandering around the yard.

These are not the only pieces of evidence of Russian thefts. We recently covered the story of a man who shared footage from his home, reportedly robbed by Russians. A resident of Repyachovka village in the Belgorod region complained that demoralized soldiers were stealing, even though there was nothing valuable in his house.
