Russian forces suffer unprecedented daily loss in Ukraine
The Russians are losing up to 1,500 soldiers in a single day, according to findings by the BBC and Mediazona. This marks the highest level of losses since the beginning of Putin's military invasion of Ukraine. Unfortunately, this does not indicate that Russia's war efforts are halting.
The findings by the BBC and Mediazona were presented by the portal "The Moscow Times". As reported, in November, the Russian army was losing about 1,500 people daily in Ukraine, including the dead and wounded. This is the highest level of losses since the beginning of the war.
The cause is attributed to the intensification of military activities along the entire front line. For comparison, in October, around 150 soldiers were losing their lives, according to NATO calculations. If in November the personnel losses were 1,500, then according to the Alliance's calculations, 300 of them died as a result of military actions.
The war in Ukraine. How many soldiers are the Russians losing?
The British Ministry of Defense has its own estimates regarding Russian losses. According to the department, in September, the average daily losses of the Russian army in Ukraine were 1,271 dead and wounded. At that time, it was the highest rate since the beginning of the invasion. The previous record was noted in May 2024, when the Russian army attempted to launch an offensive on Kharkiv, losing an average of 1,262 people daily.
The British Ministry of Defense calculated the total losses of the Russians since the beginning of the war. According to the department, the invaders have lost as many as 610,000 people since February 24, 2024, with 200,000 dead and 400,000 wounded. Half of the latter are unfit for service. The Pentagon presents similar data: 615,000 casualties, of which 115,000 are dead and 500,000 are wounded. In June, Vladimir Putin claimed that the number of dead was 130,000, and the wounded was a similar number. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, at the end of November, estimated Russia's total losses at 735,000 people.
How many soldiers has Ukraine lost?
The Economist calculated estimates for Ukrainian losses. The Ukrainians were said to have lost between 60,000 to 100,000 soldiers killed and about 400,000 wounded. Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the number of fallen Ukrainian soldiers is less than 80,000. According to data from "The Wall Street Journal" from September this year, 80,000 Ukrainians and 200,000 Russians have died.
The enormous losses of the aggressor have not yet changed the Kremlin's strategy. Regardless of the number of wounded and dead soldiers, Moscow aims to capture as much territory as possible. Personnel losses are being replenished with mercenaries from North Korea and Africa, so it should not be expected that the number of casualties will force Putin to cease further aggression at this moment.
