Russian troops struck a juvenile detention center and an orphanage in Sumy. As a result of the attack, at least 13 people were injured, including children.

"This evening, September 1, the enemy carried out a missile attack on the premises of an educational institution in Sumy, which houses a social and psychological rehabilitation center for children and an orphanage," the local administration reported on Sunday evening.

The center is located in one of the residential neighborhoods. Oleksiy Drozdenko, head of the city's military administration in Sumy, told the media that "all victims are receiving the necessary assistance."

According to preliminary information provided by the Sumy City Council, there were no fatalities as a result of the attack. Thirteen people were injured, and four of them were hospitalized. The rest received the necessary help on-site.

The attack caused significant material damage. In addition to the destruction at the center itself, according to the Ukrainska Pravda portal, as many as 1,300 windows in nearby houses were damaged.

Sumy was not the only target of Russian airstrikes from Sunday night to Monday. The Russians also targeted Kharkiv and Kyiv, where fires broke out due to falling missile and kamikaze drone debris shot down by air defense.
