Russian onslaught prompts full military readiness in Ukraine
A massive Russian attack on Ukraine is underway. The Operational Command of the Armed Forces has announced that standby pairs of fighter jets have been scrambled, and ground air defense and radar systems have been placed on high alert.
"Attention: In response to a long-range aviation attack by the Russian Federation, which may target locations including western Ukraine, military aircraft operations have commenced in our airspace," the statement reads.
"Highest state of readiness"
The military reports that the Operational Commander of the Armed Forces, following established procedures, has mobilized all available forces and resources at his disposal. "Standby pairs of fighter jets have been scrambled, and ground air defense and radar systems have been placed on the highest state of readiness," it was announced.
The Operational Command assures that it is monitoring the current situation, and the forces and resources under its control remain fully prepared for an immediate response.
Massive attack on Ukraine
The Russians attacked Ukraine on Wednesday morning by land, sea, and air. Missiles are primarily targeting the Kyiv region and other parts of western Ukraine.
Ukraine's Air Force and monitoring channels report a "powerful missile attack on Ukraine." Missiles, including Kalibr, Kh-22, and Kh-101, were launched from 7 Tu-22M3 bombers, 6 Tu-95MS bombers, and MiG-31 fighter jets. There are also reports of ballistic missiles being launched from the Belgorod region.
Missiles have also been launched from the sea.
