The Russian bulk carrier "Damas Wave" set off with a cargo of grain from the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. According to the Ukrainian shipping magazine "USM" on Wednesday, its destination is the Egyptian port of Alexandria.

The ship loaded Ukrainian grain from August 19 to 24, carrying 13,800 metric tons (approximately 15,200 US tons) of wheat. It departed from Sevastopol, which is under Russian occupation.

Russia is stealing Ukrainian grain

In May 2022, Egypt refused entry to its ports to another Russian bulk carrier carrying Ukrainian grain. This decision was made because the ship's captain did not provide proper documentation.

Egypt is one of the largest wheat importers in the world. It imports wheat, especially from Russia and Ukraine.

A week ago, another Russian bulk carrier with a similar cargo arrived at a port in Libya. The exact port could not be identified because the Russians turned off the AIS system, which tracks vessels in the Mediterranean Sea.

233,000 US tons for 46 million dollars

In March, the portal "Ukrainian Pravda" reported that the Russian grain operator (SGO), under US and UK sanctions, had exported nearly 233,000 US tons of grain from the occupied Zaporizhia region in 2023.

The total value of these transactions amounted to 46 million dollars. The stolen grain, as reported, ends up in Turkey, Libya, and Israel.
