Russian soldier's restroom run‑in with Ukrainian drone attack

More recordings from the war in Ukraine are uploaded to the web every day. Although many feature tanks, aircraft, and various types of armored equipment, numerous videos also involve kamikaze drones. One such recording showed a Russian soldier hiding from this type of threat in a restroom.

For months, Kamikaze drones have posed a significant challenge to Russian Federation soldiers. Due to their small size, they are difficult to target with firearms and even harder to destroy with larger artillery.

Kamikaze drones in war

Jammers are one of the most effective tools currently used to combat enemy kamikaze drones. These devices interfere with the communication between the drone pilot and the drone, causing the drone to either crash or return to its base when jammed.

Jammers are typically deployed to protect vehicle convoys or key targets from aerial attacks rather than being carried by individual soldiers on the front lines, as shown in the footage below.

The video, viewed by tens of thousands on platform X, has sparked considerable commentary from netizens. Many pointed out the location where the drone attacked the Russian soldier: an outdoor restroom.

The Ukrainians observed the Russian soldier from the air and, knowing his position in the small brick structure, directed a drone towards it. Fortunately for the soldier, his shelter was sturdy enough that he emerged unharmed from the strike.

The specific type of drone used in the attack is unknown. However, Ukrainian forces typically employ drones equipped with RKG-3 anti-tank hand grenades or PG-7VL anti-tank grenades. Depending on their construction and payload, these drones have an effective range of approximately 0.6 miles.
