Last weekend, another aviation disaster occurred in the United States. President Donald Trump spoke about the matter, responding to questions about the incident. According to ladbible.com, on Sunday, March 9, in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, a single-engine plane crashed in a parking lot. Five people were hospitalized, though authorities have not disclosed details about their condition.

Last month, a Delta Air Lines plane flying from Minneapolis to Toronto tipped over during landing and caught fire. Fortunately, no one died. However, passengers on an American Airlines plane were not as lucky; it collided with a US Army helicopter over Washington, resulting in the deaths of everyone on board both aircraft.

During a conversation with Fox News, President Trump was asked about Chris Rocheleau's role as head of the FAA in connection to the first of these incidents.

"It has nothing to do with the department. It was a small plane; this would have happened regardless of the size of the department. They have periods when things happen more often than usual, and then everything returns to normal and there are no problems for many years," said the president.

Rocheleau was appointed by Trump as the new head of the FAA in January, replacing Mike Whittaker, who resigned the day before Trump took office.

Trump praises and criticizes

The president also praised the pilot who avoided a collision with a private plane on the runway at Chicago Midway Airport late last month. "I’ll tell you, I think the Southwest pilot did a fantastic job last week when he lifted that plane off there because if he put the brakes on, that wouldn’t have been good, and I think the license should be maybe revoked for the plane that got in the way for the pilot, revoked for the plane that got in his way" added Trump.

"The way he immediately stepped on the gas and lifted up as opposed to, you know, thinking for about three seconds where it would’ve been too late, the Southwest pilot, or pilots, they did a great job," added the American president, as quoted by ladbible.com.
