U.S. President Donald Trump has again proposed that residents of the Gaza Strip be moved to Egypt and Jordan. This suggestion has faced strong criticism from France and Albania. Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama has firmly denied Israeli media reports claiming that his country would accept 100,000 Palestinians.

Trump first presented this plan on Saturday, suggesting that about 1.5 million Palestinians could be temporarily or permanently relocated to facilitate the reconstruction of the war-torn area. The U.S. President noted that he discussed this idea with King Abdullah II of Jordan and plans to hold talks with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.

Jordan and Egypt refute Trump's words

Diplomats from Jordan and Egypt have expressed strong opposition to this solution. The authorities of the Palestinian Authority have taken a similar stance. The French Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the forced relocation of Palestinians would be a serious violation of international law and an obstacle to resolving the Middle East conflict.

On Monday, Israeli media speculated that the Trump administration had discussed with the Albanian government the relocation of 100,000 Palestinians to that country. Prime Minister Rama firmly denied these reports, calling them "fake news."

American television network NBC reported that the relocation of some Gaza Strip residents to Indonesia was also considered. However, it is unclear how serious these plans were.

Trump's proposals were met with enthusiasm among far-right Israeli politicians, such as Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and Jewish Power party leader Itamar Ben Gvir. Trump's statements aimed to support Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in maintaining support from extreme coalition partners.

Some Israeli politicians have long called for the reorganization of Jewish settlements in the Gaza Strip. Trump's remarks might be an attempt to maintain support for Netanyahu, who is under pressure from coalition partners opposing a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
