The inauguration of Donald Trump as President of the United States is seen as a day of change and an opportunity to address numerous issues, including global challenges, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. He believes that Trump's policy of "peace through strength" presents a chance for achieving lasting and just peace.
"Congratulations to President Donald Trump and the American people on the inauguration! It's a day of change and hope for solving many problems, including global challenges," Zelensky wrote on platform X.
Zelensky noted that Donald Trump has always been a decisive politician. His policy of peace through strength offers a chance to strengthen American leadership and achieve lasting and just peace, which is the most important goal."
The Ukrainian president emphasized that the fate of this century will be determined now. He urged for cooperation to ensure it becomes "a great and successful century for democracy, not for those who wish failure upon us all."
"Good luck, President Trump! We eagerly await our active and mutually beneficial cooperation. Together, we are stronger and can ensure greater security, stability, and economic growth for the world and our citizens," Zelensky emphasized.
Putin has already commented on Trump’s inauguration
Vladimir Putin discussed the inauguration of Donald Trump as President of the United States with members of the Russian Security Council on Tuesday. He expressed an expectation for "dialogue" with Washington on equal terms and assured that Moscow will continue to "fight for Russia's interests" in the conflict with Ukraine.
During the Security Council meeting, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov reported that Trump considers the issue of the war in Ukraine to be "one of the priority directions" of his foreign policy. Putin mentioned that Trump and his colleagues speak of a "desire to resume direct contacts with Russia" and "the necessity to do everything to prevent World War III," although he did not provide specific details.
According to statements from the government agency TASS, the Kremlin leader congratulated Trump on assuming office, praising him for his "courage" and "convincing victory" in last year's presidential elections in the United States.
