Ukraine captures North Korean soldiers in Russian territory
Drone operators from the tactical group of the Ukrainian Special Operations Forces (SSO) captured a North Korean soldier during special operations in Russia's Kursk region.
The Ukrainian Special Forces released footage showing the capture of North Korean soldiers in Russia's Kursk region. These images were shared by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
"Our soldiers have captured North Korean military personnel in the Kursk region. Two soldiers, though wounded, survived and were transported to Kyiv, where they are now communicating with the Security Service of Ukraine," Zelensky wrote on the X platform.
The president expressed gratitude to the soldiers of Tactical Group 84 of the Special Operations Forces and the airborne troops for capturing the North Koreans. He assured that the prisoners received medical care, just like all other prisoners of war.
" have instructed the Security Service of Ukraine to grant journalists access to these prisoners. The world needs to know the truth about what is happening," Zelensky emphasized.
Previously, Kyiv, the Pentagon, and South Korean intelligence reported numerous losses among North Korean troops, but until now, there had been no convincing visual evidence.
The statement by the Ukrainian President notes that the Korean prisoners were transported to Kyiv. They do not speak Russian or English, so communication is facilitated by Korean language translators "in cooperation with South Korean intelligence."
It is reported that one of the prisoners had a military document of the Russian model issued in the name of another person registered in the Republic of Tuva, while the other had no documents.
