Ukraine intercepts 12 drones, but Sumy hit in a night attack

On Friday morning, the Ukrainian Air Force reported that during the night from August 29 to 30, 2024, they managed to shoot down 12 out of 18 Shahed drones launched by Russia. Once again, the targets of Russian attacks were infrastructure facilities in Sumy. Black smoke clouds were rising over the city.

"During the night of August 30, 2024, the enemy attacked using an Iskander-M ballistic missile from Russian-occupied Crimea and 18 Shahed 131/136 strike drones launched from the Primorsko-Akhtarsk and Kursk regions in Russia," the Ukrainian Air Force reported on social media.

Targets of Russian attacks

In an official communiqué, the Ukrainian Air Force stated that 12 drones were shot down, while another four lost contact and fell to the ground. The targets were facilities in the Vinnytsia, Mykolaiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, and Sumy regions.

Fire and injuries in Sumy

According to information from the Sumy Regional Prosecutor's Office, the night attack on an industrial facility in Sumy, in northeastern Ukraine, caused a fire and injured nine people.

The city was heavily smoked, and residents were instructed to close windows and doors and not to leave buildings.
