Ukraine's Delta system delivers $15 billion blow to Russia

One of Ukraine's significant assets in the war against Russia is the Delta system, which is responsible for real-time battlefield imaging. This Ukrainian solution has been integrated with various systems, including the Polish Topaz fire control system. The losses inflicted on the Russians due to Delta are estimated at $15 billion.

Delta is a system developed in Ukraine dedicated to situational awareness and battlefield management. Its primary function is to process data obtained from diverse sources (including those provided by Western countries) and display it in real time.

This allows Ukrainian commanders to monitor the battlefield situation live. Delta is accessible on both ordinary computers as well as tablets and smartphones. The system is considered a key link in the Ukrainian "kill chain" (the process from target detection to destruction).

According to former Ukrainian Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov, Delta is the equivalent of "Google Maps for the army." Delta processes data obtained from drones and satellites, identifies targets in photos or videos, prioritizes them, and coordinates attacks.

Integration of Delta with Topaz

Delta has been integrated with the Polish Automated Fire Control Set Topaz, which is used with Krab self-propelled howitzers and Rak self-propelled mortars provided to Ukraine.

The Delta system was developed through Ukraine's cooperation with NATO and meets NATO standards for information exchange. Work on Delta began in 2017, and its first combat use occurred in March 2022, when it was used to destroy a large Russian convoy that became stuck due to logistical issues during the attack on Kyiv.

Russian attacks on the Delta system

According to the Ukrainian Minister of Defense, Rustem Umerov, Delta is responsible for inflicting great losses on the Russians and destroying equipment worth $15 billion. Each month, the system processes information about 600,000 locations, objects, or targets.

The importance of the Delta system is no secret to the Russians either. Since the end of 2022, its users have been attacked by cybercriminals in various ways. According to CyberDefence24, one of the attacks was carried out using a compromised email account of a Ukrainian Ministry of Defense employee, aiming to infect recipients' equipment with data-stealing malware.
