Ukraine's fierce defense: Intense battles near Pokrovsk
Ukrainian forces conducted over 130 combat engagements in the last 24 hours on the fronts of the war with Russia, most of them occurring near Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region, which is besieged by Russian forces, the General Staff in Kyiv reported Friday morning.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces have engaged in over 130 combat clashes with Russian troops over the last 24 hours.
According to the DeepState project, the Russians occupied three villages south of Pokrovsk. The city, which before 2022 had approximately 60,000 residents, is a key point for the Ukrainian army. Russian forces strive to encircle the town, underscoring the intensity of the fighting in this area.
The General Staff reported that in the vicinity of Pokrovsk, the adversary conducted 47 attacks. Russian losses in this area amounted to 300 soldiers killed and wounded, four vehicles destroyed, one tank, one mortar launcher, and one vehicle seriously damaged.
Drone attacks
On Thursday night, Russia sent 50 striking and reconnaissance drones to Ukraine. Ukrainian Air Forces shot down 33 of them, and ten were neutralized electronically. Debris from the falling drones injured a 13-year-old boy in the Kyiv region and damaged buildings in the Kyiv, Kharkiv, Cherkasy, and Odesa regions.
One of the drones left Ukrainian airspace and headed toward Romania. The Romanian Ministry of Defense confirmed the violation of Romanian airspace and the discovery of drone debris in Tulcea County. In response, two F-16 fighters were scrambled and returned to base after two hours. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
