US arms sales to Ukraine paused amid political uncertainty
According to Ukrainian deputy Roman Kostenko, chairman of the National Defense and Intelligence Commission, American companies have halted the sale of weapons to Ukraine. He stated that they are waiting for "political decisions" on the matter.
"According to my information, arms deliveries from the USA, which were intended for sale to Ukraine, have been suspended. The companies responsible for these deliveries await political decisions," Kostenko reported.
The deputy emphasized, however, that direct aid from the United States is still flowing.
Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump expressed his readiness to allow Europe to purchase American weapons for Ukraine. This solution could benefit Kyiv if the White House blocks direct aid.
"Indispensable aid"
The unian.ua website highlights that, according to Kyrylo Budanov, head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, ongoing military-political support from the USA is crucial.
"Some of the aid from the USA is irreplaceable. We have Himars systems, Patriot SAM missiles, NASAMS, and F-16 equipment, which we cannot replace. We also cannot replace Starlink, on which we all rely," said Alexander Karpliuk, a soldier of the 59th Assault Brigade.
