Zelensky halts presser for a call with Macron: "Sorry, Emmanuel! I'm just having a conversation with a journalist. Can I be back in 15‑20 minutes?"
Volodymyr Zelensky's statement to journalists was interrupted by an unexpected phone call. The Ukrainian president answered and apologized to the caller, telling him he would call back in about a dozen minutes. The caller turned out to be the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.

A moment later, the caller was the French president, Emmanuel Macron, to whom Zelensky spoke right after answering the call. "Sorry, Emmanuel! I'm just having a conversation with a journalist. Can I be back in 15-20 minutes?" he asked the French leader.
The recording also shows his statement immediately after this exceptionally short conversation ended. Zelensky said he "just spoke with President Macron, with Emmanuel." He also added that both leaders are expected to have phone conversations roughly once a day.
Emmanuel Macron spoke with Volodymyr Zelensky, among other times, just after a quarrel at the White House at the end of February.
During a meeting between Trump and Zelensky, there was a sudden dispute. The signing of the bilateral U.S.-Ukraine mineral agreement was postponed, and Zelensky left the White House. Shortly afterward, the Élysée Palace announced that President Emmanuel Macron spoke with the Ukrainian leader.
On Monday this week, Volodymyr Zelensky also reported a phone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron. They were supposed to discuss, among other things, a planned conversation between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin on Tuesday. That day, Macron published a post on platform X referring to his conversation with the Ukrainian president.
