President Volodymyr Zelensky believes that the approach of the new U.S. administration under Donald Trump could expedite the end of the war. In an interview with Ukrainian public radio, Zelensky emphasized that concessions to Russia are not an option.

Zelensky pointed out that Trump's stance on the conflict reflects his commitments to the American public. In an interview with Ukrainian public radio, he mentioned that with the incoming administration's policies, the conflict is likely to reach a quicker resolution.

The Ukrainian president emphasized that in a phone conversation with Trump after his election, the U.S. president-elect was attentive to Ukraine's stance on the war with Russia. "I did not hear anything contrary to our position," Zelensky added.

Is the U.S. pressuring Ukraine? "'Sit and listen' rhetoric doesn't work"

Zelensky assured that Ukraine remains a sovereign nation when asked about potential U.S. pressure on Ukraine's involvement in negotiations with Russia. "We are an independent country. During this war, we have proven that the 'sit and listen' rhetoric doesn't work with us," he stressed.

The President of Ukraine highlighted that a just peace is crucial for his country, one that will not result in the loss of its best people due to injustice. "The war will end, but we don’t yet know the exact date," Zelensky declared.

Following Trump's victory, there were suggestions that the new U.S. administration may pressure Kyiv regarding territorial concessions to Moscow. However, Ukrainian authorities strongly oppose such solutions.
