Trump's playful jab at Starmer: Can UK stand against Russia?
Donald Trump embarrassed the British Prime Minister during a meeting at the White House. When Keir Starmer praised the benefits of the alliance with the USA, Trump asked if the United Kingdom "take on Russia by yourselves." The question amused the journalists present at the press conference and the US president himself.
The British Prime Minister argued that the alliance between the United Kingdom and the USA is doing well. He pointed out that it contributes to building prosperity and security for both countries. "I think the world sees that every time the need arises, we support each other," declared Starmer.
That's when Trump interrupted. "Could you take on Russia by yourselves?" he asked. "Well," replied a flustered Starmer, smiling slightly to himself.
Trump seemed much more amused, as did the journalists behind the cameras. In a Fox News recording, loud laughter from many people can be heard in the background after the US president's question.
Will Europe send soldiers to Ukraine? The discussion continues
In an article published in "The Telegraph," Britain's Prime Minister Keir Starmer stated that he is ready to send British troops to Ukraine to enforce the terms of a peace agreement.
Maria Malmer Stenergard, head of Swedish diplomacy, also did not rule out sending troops to Ukraine following an agreement with Russia.
Donald Tusk also addressed this issue. The Prime Minister declared that Poland does not plan to send soldiers to Ukrainian territory.
